Godless & Brainless Heathens Need Jesus After Atheism Debate
Snakedust & Beckett of Crabs sparred with two Sigma-Chad God-fearing men Saturday night on the topic of atheism and if its at fault for contributing to the decline of Western society. Stardust stumbled and bumbled through her rehearsed and written-down opening statement, littering throughout a healthy dose of her usual “umms.” Beckett fared a little better but still came off as very rehearsed and mechanical.
The debate predictably became a “science vs. religion” dialogue tree. When Andrew Wilson asked Stardust to describe what the scientific method is she responded “it’s umm, testing, and, umm, testing, and testing, umm.” Mr. Wilson also stumped both Stardust and Beckett on the topic of solenoids and other basic products of science.
Beckett completely lost the debate when he made the bold and non-sensical claim that honor codes and systems in the West were primarily derived from Kant and utilitarianism, instead of recognizing the crucial role that religion and Christianity has played in our moral systems. Chat correctly pointed out that “chivalry” pre-dates Kant by hundreds of years. By the end of the debate the audience began to feel bad for Beckett, not only did he embarrass himself but he had to attempt to bail out Snakedust half a dozen times. Let us all pray for Beckett and Snakedust.
